The Homie Eli

My new Fiorentini+Baker "Eli" boots just in time for going back to Boston. I cannot wait to break these babies in! Worked hard for these and I loveee them. Pictures soon to come about my second move back to school!

PS I wrote about this when I got my combat boots resoled but I'll mention it again. I took these to Mayan Shoe Repair on Ocean Park & 17th street in Santa Monica, CA. The store has been there for over 40 years and my dad has been going there ever since I was little. It is seriously the best shoe repair place in the area. These boots were a little snug so I took them there to see what they could do and they were able to perfectly stretch them to my liking and give me suggestions about how to treat the leather, too. Love this family-owned place so definitely check it out if you need shoe help!

Vacation Time

4th of July

This July 4th I was more patriotic than most years. I took an old, oversized Hanes tee and decided to refurbish it for the holiday. First I cut the sleeves off and made large arm holes, cut along the bottom hem line into a high-low shape, and created a v-neck for the front. Then I put strips of tape along the front and punched stars out of paper for a stencil. Using the appropriate colors, I filled in the stripes and put a cluster of blue stars on one side of the tank with a swirl of gold stars trailing down the middle to the bottom. Shabam, BBQ ready! Happy 4th!

Happy July 4th weekend!

Purple is the New Black

I buy a lot of clothes that I know I would love more if they were in the color black. So after a few months of wearing colors I claim that I will dye them black but never actually do. This week I decided it was time to follow through so I bought Rit liquid dye and gave it a shot. Turns out, "black" really means "purple." 

This is one of my favorite Planet Blue tees from their line Blue Life. It's an oversized, super thin and sheer tee with a slit in the back for tying purposes. I got bored of the moss/white tie dye look and thought black would be perfect. Instead, it turned out light and dark purple watercolor but I am actually loving it more than if it had turned out black. I wore it out with a pair of jeggings and gladiator sandals and already got compliments on the color.
