Sauce on Hampton: Thursday

My brother started working at a new restaurant in Venice called Sauce on Hampton (located on Hampton and Rose). It is unique to any other place I've been to because all of the ingredients, the produce, the fruit, everything, is bought at the local farmer's markets and the meats are extremely fresh and healthy as well. Each Thursday since June the owner and head chef of Sauce has been experimenting creating the "perfect meal" by hosting a dinner consisting of several individual courses of different, yet delicious concoctions served with a bottomless cocktail. There is no way I will do the descriptions justice but here are shots from each of the 9 courses.

1. Sweet apple and beet salad with a yogurt paste topped with pistachio nuts
 2. Fresh arugula salad with a different kind of apple, amazingly creamy avocado, fennel, nuts, and a homemade dressing
 3. Grilled shrimps over a spicy chilled cucumber and tomato salad (so good)
 4. (Probably my favorite) Butternut squash garlic puree soup with thick, crunchy homemade parmesan croutons
 5. Spicy sausage soup
 6. Sea bass with a warm cous-cous esque side; then cut onto each plate was a new type of lime that the Santa Monica farmer's marketers are carrying that are referred to as "caviar" lime because when you squeeze them small balls of lime flavor pop out and can be spread on top of a dish.
 7. Ribs over a cabbage, black bean, and vegetable coleslaw; the ribs are not boiled before cooked but are dry roasted and steamed instead. The meat ripped off the bone so nicely and was so tasteful.
8. Accompanying the ribs was a plate of drumstricks, glazed to perfection with a pomegranate sauce. The combination sounded odd to me at first but the combination of chicken and a fruity essence was mouthwatering.
 9. Lastly we had individual deserts consisting of a multi-fruit crumble (blueberry, apple, etc.). The crust was burning hot which was a nice, cripsy contrast to the gooey inside. Before being cooked the fruits were soaked in rose-water giving the whole desert a very floral taste.
I highly recommend checking out Sauce. Even if not on a Thursday night for this unique experience, I have been for other meals and have loved everything. All of the food is locally grown and so fresh that it is unlike any other place I have gone to. The sandwiches, the eggs, even the lemonade all taste like nothing I've ever had.
